BRANCH COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — A Coldwater man who was lining up his next sex crime before he even got out of prison for his last sexual assault, will get a change of scenery, but he will still be behind bars.
Forty-one-year-old Shane Scott has been given 33 years in a federal prison and 20 years of supervision for arranging to sexually assault the developmentally disabled teenage daughter of an acquaintance, after his release from Bellamy Creek State Prison.
The mother of the 17-year-old girl, Linda Ehle, is already serving time for her part in the scheme.
Scott was about to be released after serving time for sex crimes a 12-year-old girl in 2000, just three months after being released from prison for a similar crime in Alabama.
Kalamazoo Federal Judge Paul Maloney exceeded sentencing guidelines in the case, calling the crime “virtually incomprehensible” and saying that Scott was a sure bet to reoffend. Maloney said the more time he spends in prison, the less likely that will happen.
