KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Employees and students at Kalamazoo College have been victimized by what’s being called a “spear phishing” scam, officials with the private school said.
In a letter sent to all staff and students, President Eileen Wilson Oyelaran said W2 forms had been compromised. She claims an employee received a request for the forms from what appeared to be a college administrator, but now they don’t know where they went.
The school says it has notified the IRS, the state, the FBI and Michigan State Police.
They’ve also contacted credit bureaus and will also provide two years of credit monitoring to those impacted.
