KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — There is some happy news to report from the Fifth-Third Bank building in downtown Kalamazoo.
The Peregrine Falcon pair that nests atop the building has laid four eggs this spring and at least two of them have hatched so far. The birds of prey were once endangered, dwelling in the cliffs of the American west, but have been making a modest comeback in the urban canyons in Midwest cities.
It’s the third year the Kalamazoo birds have used the special nesting box built just for them.
The nest now is not only equipped with still cameras, but the Audubon Society has installed a live camera that can be watched on the internet.
