BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A Battle Creek man who allegedly used a claw hammer to attack a gas station clerk and rob the Citgo on Capital Avenue just three days after Christmas last year has been bound over to face attempted murder and armed robbery charges.
Navjot Singh, 21, was identified by store surveillance cameras as a disgruntled former employee.
Scott Carrigan testified at the preliminary hearing on Wednesday that he asked to give Singh a hammer and gave him a ride to a home near the gas station, not knowing what he had planned.
The clerk also testified at the hearing, telling the judge he needed stitches after the attack and still gets headaches.
Singh could get up to life if convicted. No trial date has been set.
