COLOMA TOWNSHIP (WKZO-AM) — A Coloma Township teenager is safe after flipping his kayak in the Paw Paw River, prompting an hours-long search Tuesday night and early Wednesday.
Berrien County Sheriff’s deputies say the child went fishing near Spring Hill Road after school with a 14-year-old friend. 911 was called after the 14-year-old made it home, but the 16-year-old did not.
The child was eventually found by Benton Harbor police walking near the Southwest Michigan Regional Airport at around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was treated at the scene and returned to his mother.
