PORTAGE (WKZO-AM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation says the reconstruction of Exit 88 in Charleston Township won’t be the only major project in Kalamazoo County this year.
Spokesman Nick Schrippa said they plan to spend $10.3 million paving and fixing U.S. 131 from Interstate 94 to U Avenue beginning next week.
He said there will always be at least one northbound and southbound lane open at all times. The biggest disruption may come when they have to close ramps at Centre Avenue, but it won’t be for the entire duration of the project.
He said they should be done with the project by the end of September.
