KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — One of the two survivors of the shooting rampage in Kalamazoo that left six dead in February will make her first press appearance on Thursday.
Tiana Carruthers will be flanked by doctors, family and law enforcement, including Kalamazoo County Sheriff Richard Fuller.
“It’s my pleasure to be there with her,” Fuller said, saying he was invited as a special guest.
While shielding four children at a townhome complex in Richland, Jason Dalton allegedly struck the 25-year-old with four rounds. Fuller said Carruthers and a second survivor, 14-year-old Abigail Kopf, have since made rapid progress.
“It might be as little as three days or maybe a week between visits, but they’re leaps and bounds ahead of where they were,” Fuller said.
Carruthers was given a six month recovery timetable in March.
