BERRIEN COUNTY (WKZO-AM) — Emergency crews at the Cook Nuclear Plant in Bridgman spent the weekend cleaning up a sizable oil spill that occurred on Friday when a huge transformer failed, spilling 2,000 gallons of oil into a retention area.
Berms kept most of the oil from escaping, and none of it reportedly got to into storm drains or Lake Michigan.
It happened in a non-nuclear portion of the facility.
One of the twin reactors in Berrien County was already down for refueling and Unit 2 continued to operate without interruption.
