LANSING (WKZO) — Its been a very unusual presidential race and its calling for a new level of strategy at this weekend’s GOP Convention, as the party faithful pick delegates to the National Convention.
2,000 republicans are caucusing in Lansing, not to pick who the delegates will vote for on the first round. That was determined by voters in March.
The candidates and their supporters are looking for delegates that will stay loyal at a contested convention, and not vote for someone else on the subsequent ballots.
Some caucuses met until late Friday evening, and the debates reportedly heated up.
As it stands 25-delegates will be required to vote for Trump on the first ballot, and 17-each will be pledged to Cruz and Kasich.
If none of the candidates reach 1,237 votes, then it could be a free for all in Cleveland this summer.
