KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The 14-year-old girl who was shot in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel in Texas Township has been upgraded to serious condition.
Abigail Kopf was admitted to Bronson Methodist Hospital on Feb. 20 after a gunman killed six people in three separate Kalamazoo-area shootings. Kopf’s grandmother and three other women were among the dead found in the restaurant’s parking lot.
Kopf, who was initially pronounced dead, was one of two people who survived the rampage. Tiana Carruthers, who was struck by four rounds at a townhome complex northeast of Kalamazoo, remains in serious condition at Borgess Medical Center.
Carruthers is expected to survive.
Kopf’s family is accepting donations to offset medical expenses through a GoFundMe page. The family recently said the Harper Creek Middle School student was taken off a ventilator and wiped her face with a towel.
The accused gunman, 45-year-old Jason Dalton, is jailed on 16 felonies, including six counts of open murder.
