ALLEGAN, MI (WHTC) – The Allegan County Republican Party’s executive committee meets behind closed doors tonight to decide whether to recommend that state Representative Cindy Gamrat resign her seat. This stems from the fallout from her admitted adulterous affair with fellow freshman lawmaker Todd Courser and the alleged cover up. Both legislators have resisted calls to resign, including one from Allegan County GOP Chairman Steve McNeal. The resolution that the committee will be voting on would be advisory only and not binding on the Plainwell representative. The Allegan County TEA Party earlier this week said that it is still supporting Gamrat, who was elected with that group’s support last fall.
