LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The Michigan State Housing Development Authority says that its Step Forward Program has helped more than 27 thousand families keep their homes since it started five years ago. More than 171 million dollars in mortgage disbursements has been paid by the program since it was seeded with nearly 500 million from the federal Hardest Hit Fund, along with over 70 million in outstanding property taxes, and has also been a part of demolishing more than five thousand abandoned houses.
