Detroit, MI. (WKZO) — Detroit’s starter Justin Verlander got the nod in the rubber match and was greeted by Baltimore’s (CF) Adam Jones in the form of a 1st inning home run to left and the O’s take a 1-0 lead. Bottom of the 3rd Tigers Anthony Gose ties the game with a RBI single scoring Jose Iglesias but things got heated between the umpire and Ian Kinsler; after Kinsler flies out to center he threw his bat at home plate out of fustration but the umpire thought it towards him and Kinsler was tossed from the game. Baltimore bats started clicking and open the game up against Verlander with a 6 run 4th, Verlander surrendered a 2 RBI double to (SS) J.J Hardy, 2 run laser shot to left to (2B) Jonathan Schoop, and finally a RBI single to (3B) Manny Machado, Tigers manager Brad Ausmus pulled Verlander out after 4 innings. O’s get 2 more in the 8th on a 2 RBI single by (1B) Chris Parmelee; Tigers score one in the 5th on a RBI single by (LF) Yoenis Cespedes and one in the 8th on a RBI single by (3B) Jefry Marte but was not enough as the O’s beat the Tigers 9-3. Baltimore’s Miguel Gonzalez (8-6) gets the victory going 5 innings, 2 runs, and 4 K’s while Detroit’s Justin Verlander (0-3) gets the loss lasting only 3 2/3 innings allowing 7 runs (all earned), 8 hits, and 4 K’s With the loss the Tigers record is 45-46 one game under .500 and now sits 10 1/2 behind Central leading Kansas City.
