BATTLE CREEK (WKZO) — Scott Losey was hired to be a friend to Veterans, to help them work the maze of forms and guide them through the bureaucracy to get the help they deserved and had coming, but that’s all history now.
Instead the former Director of Veterans Affairs in Calhoun County was charged with two counts of embezzlement for allegedly demanding that he receive gifts, payments and kick-backs for the services he was supposed to be providing for free.
Now those charges have been replaced with 3 high-court misdemeanors for retaining fees and three misdemeanors for extortion by a public official.
Losey waived preliminary hearing, and there is talk of a deal in the works that would send Losey to drug court, which could mean some or all of the charges would be dismissed if he complies with court orders.
