KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Sunday on a 4-year-old girl found dead in a home on Douglas Avenue in Kalamazoo on Saturday has ruled out any natural causes of death.
Capt. Victor Ledbetter says toxicology tests are being conducted and it will be a few weeks or months before those results are available.
Kalamazoo Public Safety has released the name of the child. They say Kharisma Richardson turned four on the day of her death.
Her mother is being held on unrelated warrants. No charges have been filed as a result of the child’s death.
Police have at least one previous report of domestic abuse from the address, but say it did not involve harm to the children.
The children who were living in the home with their 25-year-old mother are now living with other family members.
