KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office has formally kicked off its 10-week stuffed animal drive.
Locations throughout Kalamazoo are serving as “Teddy Bear Posse” drop-offs. Sweetwater’s Donut Mill owner Greg Garner says his shop is one of them.
“We’ve had close ties to the police over the past 35 years of our business,” Garner said. “This was just a program, when it was presented to us, where we felt very strongly about getting involved.”
Steve Todd is with Southern Michigan Bank, which will also accept the critters.
“We’ve had a long history of giving back to all of the communities we serve,” Todd said.
The new and gently-used animals will be given by first responders to children after traumatic events.
The campaign runs through Sept. 15.
DROP-OFF LOCATIONS: Applebees, Little Caesar’s, Look Insurance, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, Sweetwater’s Donut Mill, Goodrich Quality Theatres, Metro PCS, Plato’s Closet, Midwest Communications, Mulder Moving and Storage and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
