BATTLE CREEK (WKZO-AM) — A former Emmett Township police officer has been found not guilty on nine counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
It took a jury about eight hours to acquit 46-year-old Troy Estree.
The case was tried by a special prosecutor from Kalamazoo, because Estree, while employed witht the Emmett Township Public Safety Department, worked closely the Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office.
Despite testimony from the girl, a 15-year-old relative, and 54,000 pages of evidence taken from social media and email, the jury went the other way.
Estree is not a free man. He is still being held on $1 million bond, pending an April 12 trial in Kalamazoo County on charges he sexually assaulted a 33-year-old female relative at a spa last summer.
