KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — There were no injuries, but significant damage was reported after three teens in an SUV went out of control on one of the the new Sprinkle Road roundabouts near Interstate 94 while fleeing from Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies and crashed into a fast food restaurant.
The chase began about 12:46 a.m. near East Michigan Avenue, when the juvenile driver failed to stop for the sheriff’s deputy, fleeing south. The driver failed to negotiate the roundabout at high speed, shot through the parking lot of another restaurant and slammed into the Arby’s next door.
The three occupants attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly detained with the help of a police dog.
The driver has been booked into the juvenile home, while the two passengers have been turned over to their parents.
Two employees inside the Arby’s were not hurt.
