MUSKEGON HEIGHTS (WKZO-AM) — Two women and a man were shot outside a Muskegon Heights high school basketball game late Tuesday, and a fourth person was shot by a Muskegon County Deputy just as the game was letting out.
Investigators think the shootings may have been in retaliation for a confrontation that took place last week in Grand Rapids.
Police Chief Joseph Thomas anticipated problems, so they had extra police officers on hand.
“Evidently, they met in the adjacent parking lot away from the school,” Thomas said. “That’s where the shots took place.
He said the shooting victims all suffered non-life threatening wounds.
They are sorting out the suspects from the victims and charges will be pursued. None of them are believed to be students at the school.
