KALAMAZOO (WKZO-AM) — Public safety officers at Western Michigan University say two students were robbed over the weekend near the flagpoles at the center of campus.
The first was assaulted, knocked to the ground and robbed of the small amount of cash he was carrying by a small group of men just before midnight Saturday.
The victim made his way back to his residence hall to seek medical assistance. He later called police, but by that time another student had been robbed by what he said was a group of five young males early Sunday.
One of them claimed to have a weapon. The second victim was not injured, though his clothes were stolen.
WMU officials are telling students not to walk alone on campus at night and to be alert for suspicious activity.
