DETROIT (WKZO) — The commute of 56-year-old James Robertson of Detroit is probably different than anyone else. He walks the 21 miles a day to get to work, and another 21 miles home because he can’t afford to buy a new car to replace his Honda that died a decade ago.
After the “Detroit Free Press” ran his story over the weekend, a GoFundMe.com page popped up on Sunday to raise $15,000 to give to Robertson to buy a car. After five hours, the goal was increased due to 560 donations that totaled nearly $21,000.
