NEW YORK (WKZO-AM) — The final football polls of the season have been released and no surprise Alabama falls to second after their upset loss to Clemson, which is the new number one.
Ohio State is the top ranked Big Ten Team at #6, followed by Penn State in 7th place. Wisconsin, which lost to the Wolverines during the regular season, finished in 9th, one spot ahead of Michigan is both the AP and Coaches polls, after beating the Broncos at the Cotton Bowl.
Western finished 15th in the AP poll and 18th in the Coaches Poll. That’s about where they were when the regular season ended and suggests their loss to Wisconsin in the Cotton Bowl did not hurt them, or at least was no surprise to the survey participants.
With Western’s most talented players either graduating or heading to the NFL and Coach Fleck defecting to the Gophers and taking a good portion of WMU’s next class of recruits with him, it will be tough for the Broncos to be as successful next season, but we can always hope.
