KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Local organization Kalamazoo Menu is announcing the launch of a new fundraising initiative designed to help local restaurants and non-profits.
The campaign, known officially as “Kalamazoo Menuship,” was announced Tuesday.
Through the program, participating restaurants will offer exclusive deals to those who purchase a Menuship card for $25. Part of the proceeds will go to benefit a partnering non-profit. These specials will only be available to those who present a Menuship card, and participation in the program is free for any restaurant.
The organization did not specify exactly how much of the proceeds will be donated to non-profits.
A full list of participating restaurants can be found at https://www.kalamazoomenu.com/menuship-participants.
The first beneficiary in the Menuship program is the local HIV service organization Community AIDS Resource and Education Services of Southwestern Michigan (CARES), which will benefit from the first two weeks of sales.
Starting next month, local LGBT service organization OutFront Kalamazoo will be the next benefit.
CARES serves 10 counties in Southwest Michigan, and its mission is to maximize the quality of life for those affected by HIV and to minimize the transmission of the disease. It does so by providing HIV case management services to people living with HIV, as well as emergency housing and financial assistance.
“We are so fortunate to have Kalamazoo Menu choose us as their first fundraising recipient,” CARES CEO Kelly Doyle said. “We have a long history of working with restaurants in the community and we plan to hold Dine In Events in the next couple months to encourage CARES supporters in using Kalamazoo Menu cards and supporting our Dining Out For Life restaurants. This is a great partnership and highlights what Kalamazoo is all about, supporting each other.”
