KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kalamazoo Growlers were offering “Curbside Concessions” over Memorial Day Weekend.
WWMT reports that this Tuesday would have been the opening day for baseball season at Homer Stryker Field, but games are currently unable to take place due to the COVID-19 pandemic and flooding at the stadium.
The “Curbside Concessions” program operated by taking orders ahead of time, with citizens able to pick up their favorite ballpark eats shortly after. The idea was meant to provide fun to the community, even without the baseball games.
Since the regular stadium kitchen is still flooded, staff worked with health department officials to operate a second kitchen, providing safety for both workers and customers.
Although the first run of events was only scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend, officials say that more will follow. Interested citizens can keep up with future events by visiting the Kalamazoo Growlers Facebook Page.
