KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Installation of a new water main is prompting a boil water advisory in Kalamazoo’s Oakland/Winchell neighborhood.
City officials announced on Tuesday that they’re in the process of installing the new water main on Oakland Drive, which means some homeowners in the surrounding area will be under a precautionary boil water advisory for the time being.
The affected areas include:

Parkview Avenue (Section 1) – From Oakland Drive (eastern boundary) to Barnard Avenue (western boundary), both sides of the street. It does NOT include the following: the northwest and southwest corners of Parkview Avenue and Oakland Drive, the southeast corners of Parkview Avenue and Kent Avenue, and the southeast corner of Parkview Avenue and Barnard Avenue.

Parkview Avenue (Section 2) – From Oakland Drive (western boundary) to Whites Road (eastern boundary), north side of the street.

Crest Drive – From the dead end of Crest Drive (eastern boundary) to approximately 900 feet west of the dead end of Crest Drive (western boundary), both sides of the street.

Oakland Drive – From Parkview Avenue (southern boundary) approximately 1,000 feet north (northern boundary), both sides of the street. Includes Oakwood Plaza. In does NOT include 3010, 3018, and 3029 Oakland Drive.
Whites Road – From Oakland Drive (western boundary) approximately 750 feet east (eastern boundary), both sides of the street.
Residents in the affected areas should boil their water for two minutes prior to drinking or use bottled water for the time being.
Once tests are confirmed officials hope to lift the advisory by May 9th.
