Western Michigan University athletic director Kathy Beauregard announced Wednesday that Bronco men’s head basketball coach Steve Hawkins will not return for the 2020-21 season.
From wmubroncos.com, Beauregard said, “We appreciate all the contributions he and his family have made to our university and the Kalamazoo community,” Beauregard said. “Ultimately, I’ve decided to make a change in the leadership of the men’s basketball program. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”
Hawkins was in the final year of his contract. He has been with WMU for the last 20 years, the last 17 as head coach.
