GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has lost the first round of her appeal in the fight to reopen gyms in Michigan.
U.S. District Judge Paul L. Maloney Friday struck down portions of the governor’s executive orders, including a blanket ban on the reopening of gyms and workout facilities statewide. Maloney Monday denied a request to delay the reopening of the gyms, which is scheduled to be allowed at 12:01 a.m. Thursday.
Maloney said gyms will be required to follow existing safety precautions Whitmer has established for the reopening of other businesses during the coronavirus pandemic.
