CALHOUN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Three people have been hospitalized following a dangerous crash in Calhoun County.
The incident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1st at the intersection of 11 Mile Road and B Drive South in Newton Township.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says that a passenger car with two people from Kalamazoo inside was traveling on 11 Mile Road, stopped at a stop sign, and then continued into the path of a westbound semi-truck.
The truck driver attempted to brake but ultimately crashed into the car, causing the semi-truck to roll over.
A 45-year-old man passenger of the car was airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo with critical injuries, and the 50-year-old female driver was taken by ambulance to the same hospital.
Deputies report that the driver of the semi, identified as a Calhoun County man, was also airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital for serious injuries.
The crash is currently being investigated by the Calhoun County Accident Reconstruction Team.
