BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) has announced that a second suspect has been arrested in connection to the disappearance of 27-year-old Amber Griffin.
27-year-old Amber Griffin was last seen at a home in Bedford Township, north of Battle Creek, on the night of June 22.
Police announced Tuesday that 27-year-old Julice Haggerty has been arrested in the matter. He faces charges of lying to a police officer, as well as tampering with evidence.
The first person charged in this case, 25-year-old Derek Horton, is also the boyfriend of Griffin. Police say that while questioning Horton, they discovered contrary testimony. He has already been charged with open murder in the case, and is said to have assaulted Griffin in the past.
Police add that Haggerty had driven Horton to a local hardware store on June 23, the day after Griffin’s was last seen, and purchased a shovel.
At this time, her body has not been located. Police are asking for help from the public in locating her body.
