NILES, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Berrien County Sheriff’s office is saying that an Indiana woman has been killed after she hit an oncoming driver after crossing the centerline on an area highway.
The woman was traveling in the northbound lanes, but at some point crossed the median where she hit a brown Ford Fusion traveling southbound.
Deputies were called just before 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9 to a location near Mile Marker 6, where they found the 35-year-old woman severely injured in the crash. She was soon transportated to the hospital where she later died from her wounds.
The driver a passenger of the Ford Fusion were also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Police say it’s unclear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The name of the woman who died from the crash has not been released.
