KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A utilty worker was rushed to a local hospital after experiencing electrical shock while in a downtown church basement.
The incident happened Friday morning when the Consumers Energy employee was working on a routine meter exchange at the lower level of the church on Farmers Alley.
Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers were dispatched to the scene around 9:30 a.m., where emergency response officials found the employee suffering injuries and burns sustained in the explosion, known as an “arc-flash”.
The utility worker was transported to nearby Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for their injuries. Authorities are reporting that no other injuries are known to have resulted from the incident.
