KALAMAZOO TWP., MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Some residents in a Kalamazoo Township neighborhood are being advised to avoid using tap water as crews work to repair a water main break on Edison Street.
City officials issued a boil water advisory on Thursday, February 13th after the break resulted in a temporary loss of water pressure to nearby pipes.
The precautionary measure is intended for all drinking or ingestion of municipal tap water within the affected area.
Residents impacted include those living on Edison Street from Douglas Avenue to Taft Street. That does not include homes on the northeast corner of Edison Street and Douglas Avenue, the northwest corner of Edison Street and Truman Street, and the northwest corner of Edison Street and Taft Street.
The advisory is also in effect for residents on 4016 Douglas Avenue and 4002 Douglas Avenue at the Oakbrook Estates Mobile Home.
The measure was made in cooperation with officials from the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department, which say that testing samples currently do not confirm any traces of bacteria present in water near the site of the affected main break.
The issued advisory says that all precautions are expected to be lifted within 72 hours, or on Saturday, February 15th.
