KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety is investigating a shots fired incident that took place Friday afternoon in the Westnedge Hill neighborhood.
Officers were summoned to the 3000 block of South Burdick Street, north of Cork Street around 5:40 p.m. and found a resident inside their apartment trying to avoid the gunfire.
Evidence found at the scene and surveillance video indicated that a single male suspect had deliberately fired into the building and nine bullets had entered four different apartments.
KDPS states that the rounds traveled through bedrooms, bathrooms, and one bullet was found lodged in a refrigerator.
19 casings were recovered. Authorities say the casings were from two different firearms and one of them was from an assault rifle.
No injuries were reported. Authorities say the suspect fled in a gold colored Impala with a spoiler.
