KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department is issuing some recommendations to employees who are still working as essential staff during this coronavirus pandemic.
On Friday, health officials released a statement recommending that all essential service providers and businesses in Kalamazoo County conduct worker health screenings and implement a social distancing plan.
Kalamazoo County Health Officer Jim Rutherford says essential businesses should screen all employees upon entry into the building by checking for fever or other symptoms and maintain six feet of distance between people whenever possible.
“Our intention with issuing this recommendation is to further protect the health and safety of our essential service workers, their family members and the entire community,” said Rutherford.
They’re also reminding companies that only those operations deemed critical under the Governor’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” Executive Order may remain open in Kalamazoo County.
Business owners looking for a Workplace Health Screening tool can contact the Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services Department at pio@kalcounty.com.
In addition, Kalamazoo County officials are hosting a coronavirus question and answer session.
Health Officer Jim Rutherford, Medical Director Dr. William Nettleton, and Sheriff Richard Fuller will answer questions through a Facebook live video on the Health & Community Services Department’s Facebook page.
It will take place at 3 p.m. on Friday.
