HOWARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Niles man who ran from a crash scene is now in custody thanks to the tracking work of a Cass County Sheriff K9.
Deputies and Michigan State Police were responding to a crash around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the area of Pine Lake Street and Anderson Road in Howard Township, but when they arrived witnesses said the driver fled on foot into a large cornfield.
That’s when officers launched K9 Faust who located the driver hiding in the corn.
The 56-year-old man was transported to the hospital for injuries and then taken to the Cass County Jail for an outstanding warrant.
More charges may come as a result because officers believe the vehicle may have been stolen out of Berrien County.
