KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo division of the pro-immigration organization “Justice for our Neighbors” will be hosting a “Teach In/Shout Out” seminar this week.
According to an official press release, the purpose of the seminar is “contribute to a greater sense of community and support of immigrants.”
During the “Teach In” section, attendees will learn about issues surrounding immigrants, while in the “Shout Out” section, attendees will line Park Street in support of a humane immigration policy.
“Our immigration system is biased and cruel, and is undergoing restricting changes on nearly a daily basis,” Clinic Coordinator for Justice for Our Neighbors-Kalamazoo Ann Sweany said in the press release. “It’s time to speak out as a community, both to make the system reasonable and humane, and to say to our immigrant community that we stand here in solidarity.”
The “Teach In/Shout Out” seminar will take place this Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, which is located at 212 S. Park St.,Kalamazoo.
The meeting comes after a resolution in support of driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants was presented to the The Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners last month.
