BATTLE CREEK, MI (WKZO AM/FM) —
Police in Battle Creek are reporting that a 23-year-old man has passed away after being shot during a party in the North side area.
According to an official press release, on Saturday, October 26th at 3:49 am, Battle Creek Police responded to the first block of W. Northside Drive for a report of shots fired and an argument. Officers on duty in the area also heard several shots being fired.
Police located the victim, 23-year-old Elijah Williams, at a house with a gunshot wound to his torso. Emergency responders took him to an area hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.
The initial investigation revealed that several people were at a house for a party when an argument broke out and several men started fighting. Police say at least two people were shooting and Williams was hit in the crossfire.
Several people at the party were interviewed, but investigators still have people they are looking to talk to. Persons of interest have been identified, but their names are not being released at this time.
