ARLINGTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that a two-vehicle crash left one driver dead Wednesday morning.
Police say that around 7:15 a.m., the crash occurred at M-43 at County Road 673 (50TH Street). Amanda Remington, age 41, of Bloomingdale, Michigan was driving with her children, Lukas and Maci Remington (ages 10 and 7, respectively). Remington was wearing a seatbelt and her children were properly restrained.
Police say that Santiago Gallegos-Saucedo, age 54, of Bangor, Michigan, failed to stop at the signed intersection at M-43 and drove straight into the path of Remington, causing the collision. Saucedo was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Both vehicles were overturned in the crash, and both drivers needed to be extricated from the vehicles. Saucedo was rushed to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where he was later pronounced dead.
Neither of the two passengers were injured and Remington only suffered minor injuries.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this crash.
