KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Public School parents are continuing to express their frustration and concern over the district’s active shooter training, saying its scaring their kids.
The program is called ALICE, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate and is apparently endorsed by law enforcement.
The complaints began last month and surfaced again at the most recent School Board Meeting.
The backlash prompted the suspension of all ALICE trainings until they can get more input from parents, school officials, and safety experts through a public forum.
Interim Superintendent Gary Start says that forum is set for October 23rd at 6 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary.
