HOWARD TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One driver is injured, and another flees the scene in a two-car crash in Cass County Saturday evening.
It happened around 9:15 at the intersection of Baron Lake Road and White Street in Howard Township.
Police report that a pickup, driven by a 44-year-old Niles woman, failed to yield at the White Street intersection to a southbound vehicle driven by Tara Starrett of Dowagiac. After the crash, the driver of the pickup left the scene and was followed by witnesses until deputies were able to make contact with her.
The driver of the pickup was then arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving without a license.
Starrett was transported to Lakeland Hospital in Niles for non-lifethreatening injuries. The name of the arrested driver is being witheld pending her arraignment.
