PARCHMENT, MI — (WKZO AM/FM) — Students at Parchment High School were sent home early after school officials say a threat was made on social media.
According to school officials, the Kalamazoo Township Police Department and Michigan State Police are investigating the threat that was made to the high school.
A statement by the Parchment School District on Facebook reads:
“Due to safety concerns over a social media threat consistent with others received in the county, Parchment High School is releasing students at 1 PM today out of an abundance of caution. Kalamazoo Township Police are currently investigating the threat that was made to the high school. Further information will be sent to families as soon as it is available.”
This incident is the latest online threat of violence to cause schools to close this week in Kalamazoo County. The Kalamazoo School District closed four schools on monday as a precaution over a potential threat made online. Police investigating the report determined later that day that the threat was not credible.
On Tuesday, several Portage schools on the northern campus were also closed due to threats that are currently under investigation.
