TEXAS TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A plan for flood relief in Texas Township is now underway.
After months of waiting, sandbagging, dealing with flooded homes, and township debate, pumps on Eagle and Crooked Lakes are now fully operational.
They are sending water to Bass Lake, hoping to lower the levels for nearby flooded homeowners.
The goal is to lower Eagle Lake by more than 3-feet, and Crooked Lake by more than 2-feet during the next 18-months.
But Texas Township residents aren’t celebrating just yet.
Eagle Lake Vice President Leonard Bosma says every time it rains, more homes flood and more families are forced to leave, and they have lost thousands of trees.
This has been an ongoing problem since last year.
