KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo’s Vice Mayor is adding another title to her efforts to build a more inclusive state.
Erin Knott was named the Executive Director of Equality Michigan, a statewide LGBTQ advocacy organization.
Knott has been serving as the interim Executive Director since last December and has over 20 years of experience in community development and political strategy.
In a statement, Knott wrote:
“I am driven by the community’s deep need for fairness, equality and justice. I will work proactively to address the needs of our community through advocacy, building political power, community empowerment, and education. I will continue to support our Department of Victim Services as they are the first line of defense, acting from alertness of the issues that continue to face the LGBTQ community, and responding with vigilance toward threats to our community’s safety, well-being, and legal security.”
