KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Officials with Kalamazoo’s Bronson Methodist are hoping to reopen their surgical center by Friday after a small fire shut down their operations last week.
Investigators are still looking into what caused the blaze in the sterilization and reprocessing room late Wednesday, which resulted in millions of dollars in damages.
Bronson Chief Operating Officer Denise Neely says they’ve been either rescheduling surgeries or moving about 100 patients a day to other hospitals.
For now, hospital workers have been busy replacing and sterilizing surgical supplies that were destroyed or damaged by the fire.
