UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) — A new study shows that 1 in 10 U.S. households are burdened with severe housing costs.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin’s Population Health Institute ranks every county in the country and shows that where we live makes a difference in how well and how long we live.
Senior Program officer Aditi Vaidya says the healthier ranked counties have higher rates of high school education, lower child poverty rates, and lower obesity and smoking rates.
Locally, Michigan’s healthiest county is Leelanau and the least healthy is Crawford.
Ottawa County was ranked number 2, Kent number 12, Kalamazoo 30, and Calhoun County was 78 out of 83 Michigan counties.
