KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A program that will give about 3,500 Kalamazoo Public High School Students a free Metro bus pass to get around town will be considered tonight by Kalamazoo City Commissioners.
A $250,000 Youth Mobility Fund has already been allocated from the Foundation for Excellence to cover the cost. The final price tag depends on how often students use the buses.
Every time a student swipes the card, the mobility fund will be billed $1.09.
If approved, this fall each High School student will be issued a KPS identification card that will also serve as both a bus pass and a library card.
