KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A woman who was first named a person of interest in a deadly Kalamazoo fire back in February is now facing charges.
Documents show that 32-year-old Melissa Morgan was arrested on Thursday and charged with murder and 1st degree arson.
Morgan was apparently seen leaving the fire that erupted at a home in the 400 block of Wallace Avenue on Kalamazoo’s Eastside on February 3rd, killing 31-year-old Zachariah Hayes.
Hayes was originally from the Iron Mountain area but moved to Kalamazoo.
At the time Morgan was arrested for a drug possession charge and brought in for questioning following the house fire, but she was later released.
No word on when she’ll be arraigned.
