PORTAGE (WKZO AM/FM) — Some Portage residents will have to boil their water Thursday morning as crews work to fix a fire hydrant.
Beginning at 8:30 a.m., there will be a disruption in service, and once the water returns, a boil water advisory will be in effect for homes on Oakland Drive between West Osterhout and Shaver Road.
That’s every home from 10023 to 10315 on Oakland Drive.
Officials say a vehicle hit the hydrant, and in order to replace it, they are going to have to cut off water which will drop the pressure and create a possible risk of contamination.
The disruption in water service could continue until 4 p.m. Thursday.
In the meantime residents should boil their water or use bottled water.
