KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo man is in custody after a series of drive-by shootings with a paintball gun.
Public Safety Officers were called to the intersection of Redwood and Greenwood Avenues on Thursday, in an area dominated by student housing just west of Western Michigan University’s campus, and found several victims who said they were shot by a paintball.
The suspect’s vehicle was quickly located and the 22-year-old man was arrested on unrelated warrants.
There were no serious injures reported from the incident.
This comes after a short-lived national fad took place last year when a group of Atlanta rappers suggested that gangs start using paintball guns instead of real guns, but it’s unclear if that was this local shooter’s motivation.
The fad quickly faded when a few were killed and arrests were made.
