KALAMAZOO (WKZO AM/FM) — Murder suspect Donnavan Lewis has been given 17 months to 4 years for escaping from the Kalamazoo County Jail in September.
He did not contest the charges.
Jail officials were surprised by the ease the athletic former KVCC Basketball player scaled the twin fences topped by razor wire that separates the exercise yard from the community.
The fences have since been improved.
He was given 145 days credit for time served, not that it may matter in the end.
He still faces trial for the murder of former girlfriend Aniya Mack of Comstock Township.
He has reportedly confessed to that crime too.
